Plateau State House of Assembly has indeed reduced the tenure of elected local government officials from three to two years. This decision was made on Wednesday, August 28, 2024.
According to the house committee chairman on information, Matthew Kwarpo, this decision was prompted by the recent autonomy granted to local governments across the country by the Supreme Court.
