Pelayo grew up Catholic in Spain, Melissa as a Hasidic Jew in Brooklyn, and Fire Lyte as a Southern Baptist in Texas. On the surface, the contexts couldn't be more different. But, as we explore in our conversation, there are definitely parallels between living in these homogeneous religious communities. We also discuss the experiences of coming out as gay and choosing a different spiritual path than what they were raised with. The questions, the struggles, and what remains unspoken.
