Eljuri is a New York based Latina singer-songwriter who's taking her new tour on the road called Eljuri Concerts for Democracy: Amplifying voices for social change. This series launches a Voter Registration initiative in partnership with HeadCount, Every Vote Counts and Spread the Vote. We’ll learn more about this in this episode.

Eljuri’s music is a powerful fusion of rock, reggae, and world rhythms. Imagine if Manu Chao and Bob Marley mind melded with Carlos Santana - that's the vibrant energy you can expect from Eljuri when she’s on stage.

Hailing from Guayaquil, Ecuador and raised in New York City, Eljuri's music is a melting pot of influences, from traditional pasillos to punk rock. She's not just a musician, but a self described "artivist" whose bilingual songs tackle important themes like immigration, civil rights, gender equality, gun control and environmental protection.

Recognized as one of the top Latina guitarists globally, Eljuri has won numerous awards, including Billboard and John Lennon songwriting accolades. Her music has been featured in five films, 20 internationally-syndicated TV shows and over 50 TV shows throughout the Americas. She's also a mentor and a passionate advocate for immigrant and women's rights.

With five critically acclaimed solo albums under her belt, Eljuri continues to captivate audiences worldwide and this Saturday the 13th of July, you will find her on stage at Riis Park as part of the Levitt VIBE Belmont Cragin Music Series, produced by the International Latino Cultural Center of Chicago (LatinoCulturalCenter.org). This is a free concert from 2pm to 4pm and you and everyone you know are invited to attend what is surely going to be an unforgettable performance.
