What is your fair market value? What would you sell for on the open market?
-“Thank you for calling GIH where we instigate growth one call at a time where we utilize antiquated technology to deliver 3-minute leadership lessons, every day of the week. This is message #47 and I am Aaron Havens.
First off. Yes. I made a mistake yesterday. I'm fully aware of April being the forth month of the year. Thank you for all of you that corrected my 5th month of the year error.
Now that that is out of the way.
Do you value me less now that I made a recorded public mistake?
Would that bring my Fair Market Value down?
You know what I'm saying?
Like today... right now. I know the FMV of my 2002 Chevrolet Tracker 4dr 4x4 is $5,833, with a low of $4,374 and a high of $7,291
If someone were to want to buy this prized possession they better make me a fair value market offer.
My day job(s) tend to be spent 50% in putting together bids/estimates and contracts. I'm always evaluating how much a job is worth, how much I should pay our employees and how much our company should make. And after all of our years of data I know how much each employee and our production rate is worth per labor hour. It's a lot of data and trial and error to get to this point.
SO. What is the FMV of YOU?
I've been around some people that think their poop don't stink and that they are the Gift to the world... not much fun to be around. I've also been around people that think they are useless and have a hard time seeing value in who they are or what they do. I want to live in reality... somewhere between the two.
So what say you? Is your head in the game? If you had to put a value on you, would it be based in experience, capacity to innovate, ability to think creatively and pivot when needed, skills, education, vocational training and just straight up mindset? OR Do you tend to undervalue yourself, lived experiences, street smarts, attitude, fortitude and super hero skills?
For some of us, we need to get our heads out of the clouds. And for some of us, we need to pick our chins up, look at the world and smile.
Big take away:
Put data behind your amount. What are you worth today compared to a year ago, and why? Ask someone close to you if they agree with your findings!
Thanks for calling in today. Tune in tomorrow for a fresh new topic.
