#72 - Young Hackers | Girl Up & Period Poverty (Helena Branco)

Guest: Helena Branco. Helena is a young activist from São Paulo, Brazil. She studies International Relations and Public Policy at the Federal University of ABC. She was the first Brazilian Teen Advisor for Girl Up and is currently a Women Deliver Young Leader. She coordinated the movement Free To Menstruate, which has introduced and passed more than 40 municipal bills and 9 state bills in all Brazilian regions. Helena was on the forefront of mobilizing against the presidential veto on delivering menstrual products and she spoke at the public hearing in the House of Representatives about the subject. Her main interests are public policies, innovation concerning menstrual rights (particularly in the Global South), the role of youth-led mobilizing in advancing gender equality, and the political representation of women and youth.
