O contexto económico atual, com inflação alta, taxas de juro a subir, fez ressurgir os receios globais de uma bolha imobiliária. Em entrevista ao Expresso Imobiliário, António Ramalho, antigo presidente executivo do Novo Banco, afasta esse cenário por completo em Portugal, uma vez que não há no país qualquer fator estrutural que aponte para esse caminho. O economista diz mesmo que o mercado imobiliário nacional é particularmente maduro: "Portugal é talvez dos países da Europa mais maduros". Em relação à subida das taxas de juro e ao risco de existir um aumento dos números de incumprimento nos créditos à habitação, António Ramalho diz que os números demonstram não haver razão para alarme: "Portugal tem neste momento 0,3% de incumprimento dos créditos à habitação. É um número mais baixo do que tínhamos em 2022 (0,4%)". E sublinha também que os níveis de emprego continuam favoráveis. O economista diz no entanto que os mais jovens são os mais afetados pelas subidas dos juros: "é sobretudo quem comprou casa nos últimos 2 ou 3 anos que naturalmente está a sofrer as consequências".
