God’s word is often like a surgeon’s scalpel and God uses it to perform heart surgery on us. At times, it can hurt because we are faced with our own sin and these words are very piercing. It can be weighty and there may be times when you say to yourself "boy…I am missing the mark." Or "I am dropping the ball."Sometimes we may get discouraged when we see our efforts fail. When this happens, we must take a pause and reminder ourselves of the assurance that we have in Christ.

We must remember the never ending, and always true beliefs about who God is and who you are in him. And the truth is there is not one of us who has a leg up on another person here. There is not one of us more deserving of God’s grace more than someone else. We are not perfect. We don’t always obey perfectly God’s word. Yes, let us spur one another to higher standard. Yes, let us challenge each other for deeper growth, but let us also keep reminding one another and assuring each other of the never ending, always abounding grace of God.
