駐外商務代表，一個促進和所在國的經貿關係，協助爭取兩國投資與商機，和辦理兩地經濟貿易事務。Jere Tala 接任芬蘭商務辦事處代表這個位置，正是在國際局勢最不確定的時代，先是疫情，然後是先進科技創新的關鍵時機，現在又遇上一個經濟區域洗牌的重要機會。Jere 已經很習慣時代和人生的不確定性，他三十年前第一次到台灣，從一個年輕小伙子出國闖天下，到後來結婚組織家庭，原本以為找到新加坡可以定下來的人生，疫情讓他再度來到台灣，這次他從過去的芬蘭航空和 Ｑatar 航空代表一躍成為代表芬蘭在台灣找投資商機的商務代表。Jere 在訪談結尾，引述芬蘭總統 Stubb 的演講：以台灣在半導體領域的地位為標竿，期許芬蘭成為量子技術 （Quantum technology) 領域的領導者。來去東西之間，Jere 預見芬蘭和台灣的距離已經不是問題，而是更多契機和合作。
A Trade representative abroad promotes economic and trade relations with the host country, assists in attracting investment and business opportunities, and handles economic and trade affairs between the two countries. Jere Tala took over the position of Trade Representative of Finland at a time of great international uncertainty, first with the pandemic, then at a critical juncture for advanced technological innovation, and now with a major opportunity for regional economic reshuffle.
Jere is accustomed to the uncertainties of life and the times. He first visited Taiwan thirty years ago. As a young man, he ventured abroad to explore the world, later married and started a family. He had originally thought he'd found a settled life in Singapore. The pandemic brought him back to Taiwan, where he transitioned from a representative for Finnair and Qatar Airlines to a Finnish business representative seeking investment opportunities in Taiwan. Jere concluded the interview by quoting Finnish President Stubb's speech: "Replicating Taiwan's position in the semiconductor industry as a benchmark, we hope Finland will become a leader in quantum technology." Having traveled back and forth between the East and the West, Jere foresees the distance between Finland and Taiwan as no longer a problem, but rather a source of opportunities and collaboration.
