Kit talks to Alan Parkinson over some Waitrose Rwandan Arabica Light Roast Coffee, chatting about being a child of Yorkshire, past Presidents, amongst other things! NB: Some minor technical difficulties when recording this conversation means that the quality is not up to usual standards in some places. Apologies! It still won't detract from your enjoyment :) Alan is a geographer through and through. A Yorkshireman who's spent more than half his life living in Norfolk and love its coastline and rolling countryside where he currently lives. A teacher and author with a house full of books. Alan’s wife is an art educator, and they have two kids who are both completing degrees at UEA. Alan is proud to work with Dan Raven Ellison, Helen Leigh and Tom Morgan Jones to produce ‘Mission: Explore’, and the award he has received from the Royal Scottish Geographical Society for his support of fellow colleagues. Some links to things mentioned in the chat: - Rising from the Ashes – movie about the 2012 Rwandan Olympic Cycling team (https://www.imdb.com/title/tt2088883/) - Mission: Explore (https://www.geography.org.uk/MissionExplore) - ERAMUS & Turin Schemes - Geographical Association (GA) - GA Presidents Blog (https://gapresidents.blogspot.com/) Expand your Geography community by connecting with Alan via Twitter @GeoBlogs or his website Living Geography (https://livinggeography.blogspot.com) The chat was recorded on 22nd July 2021. ==About Coffee & Geography== The aim of ‘Coffee & Geography’ is to get to know, explore and celebrate the diverse & intersectional range of people and their love for the world. We’ll have fun exploring all the myriad of ways that connects your life to geography. Wait – you don’t think you’re a ‘geographer’? Well, that’s ok! If you have a love and passion for the world then you probably are more than you know.
