Cases of COVID-19 have spread quickly across prisons and jails due to unsafe conditions and lack of resources to protect those who are incarcerated. Medical officials at Rikers Island have said “This is not a generational public health crisis, rather it is a crisis of a magnitude no generation living today has ever seen” and called for the release of “as many vulnerable people as possible.”We interviewed Tony Rosa about his experience being in prison during the COVID-19 outbreak.
