Madeline Soto was just 13 years old when she was reported missing on Monday, February 26, 2024. Her body was found on March 1st in a bamboo tree grove 22 miles from home. Stephan Sterns, Maddie's mother, Jenn Soto's, on-again, off-again boyfriend, was eventually arrested and charged with both SAing Maddie for years and for taking her life.
Madeline Soto's short life was punctuated by erratic living conditions. When Stephan Sterns entered her life, she probably thought she finally had the dad figure in her day-to-day life that she longed for. Her bio dad, Tyler, was in Texas and didn't have the financial means to fight for equal custody. The end result was Maddie living with a mother troubled by mental health issues who allowed a dangerous predator into their home.
