Ladies and gentlemen, PARIS 70 is about Jan's life suddenly changing after his mother Angela started to succumb to Alzheimer's. He's in charge of taking care of her, which tests his commitment and resistance. Is there a way for Jan to ensure that his mother does not suffer?
PARIS 70 is a beautiful film. It is an emotionally captivating and inspiring story that seeks to honor caregivers and highlight the importance of their work. The drama is the most awarded short film of the year, and has accumulated over 150 awards and was selected in over 180 official selections in total. The short earned the director a 2024 Goya Awards nomination and has qualified for the 2025 Academy Awards.
The cinematography is stunning and the use of natural light is the best I have seen in any film this year. The use of 35mm film is always a favorite of mine and Biel Capellas did an outstanding job to bringing this story to life.
PARIS 70 is a very intimate film between mother and son. The mother suffering with Alzheimer’s and declining health and son who is taking care of her all by himself. There are two sides of mental health showcased in this film and Dani balances out the patient and the caregiver with grace.
PARIS 70 is Oscar Shortlisted and for good reason.
