Bayer HortCast Episode 3 is hosted by Craig White -Market Development Agronomist at Bayer Australia. This is a special episode about Integrated Pest Management (IPM) In this episode Craig discusses Integrated Pest Management in Vegetable crops with Jessica Page and Dr. Paul Horne of IPM Technologies, as well as on-ground practical application of IPM in the Lockyer valley with Carmen Brown from Bayer. Integrated pest management is important for crops, as it brings together the best possible tools including highly selective and targeted pesticides working together with beneficial insects and cultural practices to overcome pest problems in brassica (and other crops) crops like diamondback moth (plutella). Jessica Page talks about the newly formed Biological Research Company, new AUSVEG crop specific IPM guides and her involvement in IPM With Dr Paul Horne over many years. Dr Horne discusses the evolution of IPM, its role in ensuring growers have biological, chemical and cultural tools available to control pests sustainably in crops. One such example is Diadegma wasp, which is very successful in an IPM program along with Movento® (Group 23), Belt® (Group 28), and Bt (such as Dipel® Group 11A).
