Dr. Jodhi Rutherford talks with us about her research on Voluntary Assisted Dying (VAD). Jodhi shares some findings from her interviews with doctors involved in providing VAD in Victoria (Australia), including the complex ethical issues faced by doctors who choose to participate in VAD; and the difficulties faced by individuals trying to access VAD, including finding a doctor who is willing to assist them. We also discuss the different meanings of euthanasia, assisted suicide, and VAD, and why the term “VAD” is preferred in Australia.
