Hi this is meteorologist Steve Pelletiere, and I am the weather man!

1st I'd like to say a very big happy birthday to Ms. Rose Marcopoto of Bloomfield NJ as we celebrate her 100th birthday today, actually Rose's birthday was on Friday, groundhog's day but rose doesn't like to share the spotlight . We've got lots of people coming together to celebrate with her today. Happy birthday Rose and happy birthday to anyone having a birthday on this third day of February.

1st just giving you an indication of the severity of the weather out on the West Coast this weekend. The forecast for LA is calling for just a chance of showers today , that's not where the problems lye Rain is likely tonight , but we are only looking at 1/4 of an inch to half inch it's on Sunday as the storm the storm builds it's going to be a rainy day in LA and is going to pour during the daylight hours Sunday.

Up to an inch of rain daytime . It's during the evening Sunday night and Monday when rain will approach between 3:00 and 5:00 inches in the LA basin and further north as well. The advisories for LA include a high surf advisory flood watches and warnings and wind advisories. The wind advisory is for Sunday through Monday. Here is the updated aviation weather across the nation’s airline hubs for your Saturday and Sunday February 3/4/2024. The first wave of low pressures that moved into the West Coast moved across the four corners region and down into Texas in the central plains. Heavy rains today are expected across Louisiana, including New Orleans, in Texarkana. Firstly thought, if you're flying out of Newark, NY , Philly or Boston, the weather looks very good and no aviation weather delays expected there. Charlotte and Atlanta are also doing very good but that weather will change on Sunday when the Atlanta area will get storm rains associated with that central Gulf Coast weather. Expect delays possible on Sunday in Atlanta .

Miami so far looking is very good for today and most of Sunday . Texas had heavy thunderstorms late Friday and those storms moved east now. Houston and Dallas are doing very well with no problems weather wise. Over the great lakes Chicago ,Detroit, and Cleveland all looking pretty good No problems weather wise in Minneapolis , Saint Paul. Omaha will have rain with slight delays there. A bigger concern is Denver where although at Denver only looking at between 2:00 and 5:00 inches of snow winter storm watches are in effect there. Heaviest snows will be in the mountains to the west and north .Western sections of Wyoming, Montana and northern Utah will be experiencing heavy snows late today and Sunday. In the meantime the next river of rain, those big storms moving into the West Coast will be arriving in coastal California late Sunday and Sunday night and that will cause extensive delays in LA and possibly San Francisco at that time. Saturday's weather in LA is not bad and Monday will be in the height of the storm so better weather on Tuesday through midweek. San Francisco rains later Saturday and Sunday and a little dry patch for Saturday in Seattle in Portland but from more rain will be moving in as we get into the early portion of the week.
