He has served at sea as ship's divisional officer and combat systems engineer and held staff positions ashore with the Principle Naval Overseer, H.M.C. Dockyard, National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa and the Canadian High Commission in London, England. In 1982, he joined the Public Service of Canada and served in the National Defence Headquarters as a project engineer and section head for various ship systems. He now acts as an RDT&E Consultant and travels around the world with his wife.
