I SEE YOU | JESUS SERIES
Manage episode 383609546 series 3463608
“Jesus entered Jericho and was passing through. A man was there by the name of Zacchaeus; he was a chief tax collector and was wealthy. He wanted to see who Jesus was, but because he was short he could not see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree to see him, since Jesus was coming that way. When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” So he came down at once and welcomed him gladly. All the people saw this and began to mutter, “He has gone to be the guest of a sinner.” But Zacchaeus stood up and said to the Lord, “Look, Lord! Here and now I give half of my possessions to the poor, and if I have cheated anybody out of anything, I will pay back four times the amount.” Jesus said to him, “Today salvation has come to this house, because this man, too, is a son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost.”” Luke 19:1-10 NIV
Premise
Being lost is what qualifies you to be found. Looking for Jesus is commendable
but the secret is.... He already sees you!
Fundamental truths
1 Salvation comes by faith not by works.
“God saved you by his grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.” Ephesians 2:8-9 NLT
2 It is mercy that qualifies us for salvation. Nothing more. “he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us a new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit.” Titus 3:5 NLT
3 Although you came to the realization that you had need of Jesus, you didn’t pull
yourself in the direction of salvation. Instead Christ chose you! “For no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them up.” John 6:44 NLT
“You didn’t choose me. I chose you. I appointed you to go and produce lasting fruit, so that the Father will give you whatever you ask for, using my name.” John 15:16 NLT
Scriptural Insight
1 The Lord orchestrates plans to visit you. The encounter you have been seeking
and praying for is coming to you! “Jesus entered Jericho and made his way through the town.” Luke 19:1 NLT
2 The Lord knows you by name and He is very much aware of what you do. He’s
not intimidated nor will it stop your encounter! “There was a man there named Zacchaeus. He was the chief tax collector in the region, and he had become very rich.” Luke 19:2 NLT
3 Never let your inadequacies, insecurities, or lack stop you from pursuing Him!
“He tried to get a look at Jesus, but he was too short to see over the crowd. So he ran ahead and climbed a sycamore-fig tree beside the road, for Jesus was going to pass that way.” Luke 19:3-4 NLT
4 Jesus doesn’t just want to visit, He wants to dwell with you! Receive Him wholeheartedly! “When Jesus came by, he looked up at Zacchaeus and called him by name. “Zacchaeus!” he said. “Quick, come down! I must be a guest in your home today.” Zacchaeus quickly climbed down and took Jesus to his house in great excitement and joy.” Luke 19:5-6 NLT
5 People will ALWAYS respond harshly, ignorantly, and pridefully to what they don’t
understand or haven’t received. Renew your focus and continue your pursuit! “But the people were displeased. “He has gone to be the guest of a notorious sinner,” they
grumbled. Meanwhile, Zacchaeus stood before the Lord and said, “I will give half my wealth to the poor, Lord, and if I have cheated people on their taxes, I will give them back four times as much!”” Luke 19:7-8 NLT
6 If you’re currently or have ever been lost, congratulations! You qualify for
salvation!
“Jesus responded, “Salvation has come to this home today, for this man has shown himself to be a true son of Abraham. For the Son of Man came to seek and save those who are lost.””
