England beat Afghanistan at Perth with Sam Curran starring with the ball, taking the best ever figures by an England player in a men's T20I. The game also saw Mark Wood bowl the fastest EVER T20 World Cup spell, Ben Stokes deployed as an opening bowler and England stagger over the finish line in an uncomfortable run chase.

At Sydney, New Zealand hammered the reigning champions and tournament hosts Australia with Finn Allen, Devon Conway, Tim Southee and Trent Boult all performing prominent roles.
