The largest Fair since before the pandemic. More than 1.1 million people have attended this year’s Iowa State Fair. Making 2023 the second largest fair in its 169 years. The Des Moines Register says 1,133,938 enjoyed the state’s largest event. That’s over 15,000 fairgoers from 2022. 2019 still holds the record of most fairgoers at 1,170,375.

The Excessive Heat Warning continues across the state. The National Weather Service says the Des Moines area could feel temps over 100 degrees Wednesday and possibly Thursday. We should return to the mid 80s by Saturday.
In light of the heat, DART is giving free rides to all official cooling centers in Des Moines.
