What would you do if your entire world fell apart?

If everything you thought you had, your marriage, work, even your identity was called into question? This situation would be devastating for anyone. Some people get knocked down so hard by unexpected tragedies that they struggle to get back up, if they ever do. Others, despite the pain, initial disbelief, and anger, not only get back up, but reinvent themselves in both inspiring and empowering ways.

What’s the difference between these two types of individuals? My guest for this episode, Kelli Calabrese suggests that it may have a lot to do with our beliefs, the meaning we attach to our circumstances and the questions we ask ourselves.

More than that it depends on what we focus on, even when facing the hardest of challenges. The ability to balance acceptance, the willingness to learn from these painful moments, while at the same time having a process to not only get back up but become better in the process.

This is exactly what happened to Kelli a few years ago. She thought she had it all, a thriving business, beautiful home on a golf course, she was a renown fitness expert, a mother, a loving wife, and then… everything changed.

I have been friends with Kelli for over 25 years. Over the past couple of decades, I have known her I have developed an enormous amount of respect and admiration for her. She’s always seemed so powerful to me. I was both deeply interested as well as personally moved by her story. How it impacted her, what she learned and how that influenced who she became. In every conversation I have had with Kelli, she’s had something to teach me. This time was without question, no exception.

One of the things I have admired most over the years about Kelli, is her generosity. That combined with a deep intellect and what has appeared to me as unbridled energy, makes her a invaluable resource.
