It's been a long, long wait for the football-mad Mayo GAA fraternity but, with Covid restrictions once more starting to ease and competitive fixtures at inter-county level confirmed for the year, we can all finally begin to look forward in earnest to another year of football action. Joining in this return to play is the Mayo News football podcast, which is back for another year of football-related analysis, opinion and chat. In this first podcast episode of 2021, Rob Murphy, John Gunnigan of the Mayo GAA Blog and Mike Finnerty of the Mayo News get into a virtual huddle to look ahead to the return to play for the Mayo team. Mike provides an update on Aidan O'Shea's injury scare, while John gives a flavour of the debate the news sparked among worried fans on the blog. The lads go on to chat about the League fixture schedule, the Connacht Championship draw, TV and streaming coverage of the behind-closed-doors matches this year and they also talk about the home venues other than MacHale Park that Mayo have used in the past. This episode of the Mayo News football podcast is now online and is available to listen to on iTunes, SoundCloud, Podomatic and Spotify. You can also listen to it directly on the Mayo News website as well as on the Mayo GAA Blog. The Mayo News football podcast has its own Twitter presence, @MayoPodcast, so if you're a Twitter user you should follow us there to make sure you get the latest podcast-related updates, including new episodes.
