On this week's episode Jamie and Guy discuss another saboteur or inner critic: the Pleaser. Jamie explains how she is all too familiar with this saboteur because it is her "#1". Being a "pleaser" is one of the ten types of saboteurs identified by Shirzad Chamine in his work on Positive Intelligence. He teaches that the saboteurs are the negative voices in our heads that "generate negative emotions" (stress, anxiety, self-doubt, frustration, restlessness, and unhappiness) and "sabotage our performance, wellbeing and relationships". Jamie explains how the pleaser shows up for her and when it becomes a little too strong. She also clarifies that being a pleaser isn't all bad but she knows went it's starting to become unhealthy when she begins to feel resentful or taken advantage of. As she has gotten older she has learned to recognize when it is "sabotaging" her and has learned to quiet it better.
