Gary interviews Maia a 16-year-old who brings insight and great awareness of the battles that teenagers face. When at school, she recalls the strong desire to fit in but feels the need to change so that she can be accepted by her friends. She later discovers that this is not the best policy, since she becomes a version of herself that she did not like. In her self-discovery journey, she finds out that not everyone is going to like her and she learns that being authentic is the only way forward.
We are privileged to hear such a story from a young person who has promised to love and protect herself, just as much as she does for others. Her courage to speak up and highlight her flaws in order to find her own identity is nothing short of heroic.
