Episode #44: A Talk Story w/ Ben Pilat at HNL Tool Library

Today we will continue our Sustainable Leaders series and have a Talk Story with Ben Pilat, the Chief Operating Officer of HNL Tool Library. This nonprofit provides tools to lend out to the community and so much more! We will also touch on the construction industry and how it contributes to waste in our landfills, water and air pollution and climate change. This nonprofit not only provides a much needed service but is also part of the solution to a more sustainable Hawaii.

Ben Pilat joined HNL Tool Library in early 2020 and enjoys working on projects where art and technology meet. Before joining the library, Ben worked primarily as an educator and theatrical lighting designer. With experiences that range from Head of Production\Design at Pepperdine University to Lighting Director at Los Angeles Ballet. Ben brings a diverse set of skills to his current role as Chief Operating Officer and is proud to serve the mission of pooling our resource wealth, providing a platform for education, and helping to build a more sustainable Hawaii.

A shout out to Elia Bruno, the founder of HNL Tool Library. He founded the library in 2015 while earning a degree in sustainability studies at UH Manoa. He would have been here today but spotty reception on the Big Island made that a challenge for our zoom recording today.
