Last week the Eleventh Circuit avoided that question through a couple dodges for which Paul Sherman takes it to task. And why do defendants enter into plea deals? We often don’t know, but Justin Pearson tells us about an Eighth Circuit case where a man may have had little choice to take one after (perhaps unwittingly) funding terrorist groups in Syria.
