When training to have out-of-body experiences or if you already have them, intention is very important, it is a particular kind of energy and when you intend you are giving a the message to the universe that you are going to do something, you plan to do it, it is also a message to your subconscious mind.
Intention is important in all things we do if we want to succeed. Think about when you are just about to get up from the table, first you decide to do it then you intend, then you do, as you intend to do it your muscles prepare for the movement. OK achieving conscious out-of-body experiences may require more effort but intention helps get things moving. So when you go to sleep or when you do your OBE practice, intend to leave your body, no ‘ifs’ or ‘buts’ or might or maybe but intend and know.
It is also of benefit to have the intention of going somewhere or of doing something, this will also give your subconscious mind a nudge into helping to make it happen. Having a clear idea of what you want to do in the astral will help you focus and could even help to avoid unwanted attention from other beings who may want to disturb you.
You can also use affirmations before your OBE practice or before going to sleep, written and said aloud, affirmations are always said in the present, so for example, ‘now I’m out-of-body’ if you repeat this often enough you may end up saying it in a dream and suddenly become aware. Keep your affirmations simple.
Consistency is of the utmost importance even if you feel nothing has happened, our subconscious works behind the scenes we are not always aware of the progress at first, this is why it is important to keep going, don’t get despondent or give up. Developing new skills can take time, there will be progress but it probably won’t happen overnight. Remember you are working for the entire you, whatever you learn in this life will affect your other incarnations, this is why learning and spiritual development are so important as through these things you will rise the vibration of the WHOLE YOU. If you already experience OBEs intention is still important so you don’t get distracted while out-of-body. If you have some sort of health issue to resolve you could use astral projection to investigate the reason or even to heal. I did this once when I had a calcific tendonitis, I set the intention to heal it before going to sleep one night. I woke up in the mind awake, body asleep state and got up out of my body. I remember my intention to heal, I stood by my bed and saw there was a dolphin within my shoulder. I can’t remember all the details, I would have to look up the experience. I did indeed have less pain in the morning though it did come back after a few days, however, I did find a path to healing and my shoulder became more flexible and pain free. There is so much to be done in the astral, so much guidance if we can only tap into it, indeed so much guidance in our lives in general if we only stop to listen, by paying attention to signs that were sent me I managed to improve my shoulder problem immensely. I went from very little movement and a lot of pain to be able to twist it into various yoga positions, pain free. All this started with the intention to heal my shoulder without medication.
