On the first day of the week, Mary of Magdala came to the tomb early in the morning, while it was still dark, and saw the stone removed from the tomb.
So she ran and went to Simon Peter and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and told them, “They have taken the Lord from the tomb, and we don’t know where they put him.”
So Peter and the other disciple went out and came to the tomb.
They both ran, but the other disciple ran faster than Peter and arrived at the tomb first;
he bent down and saw the burial cloths there, but did not go in.
When Simon Peter arrived after him, he went into the tomb and saw the burial cloths there,
and the cloth that had covered his head, not with the burial cloths but rolled up in a separate place.
Then the other disciple also went in, the one who had arrived at the tomb first, and he saw and believed.
For they did not yet understand the Scripture that he had to rise from the dead.

Hello, dear friends in China! A very happy Easter to you all. While every Sunday is a celebration of Easter, today we celebrate in a special way the risen Lord.
How can we meditate on this great joy? Remember, the disciples of Jesus felt sad, alone, confused, and hurt. They did not understand what was happening, and worse, their teacher and friend, whom they loved, had just died.
Imagine if you lost everything: your friends, your family, your house, and your job. Imagine they were all taken from you by murderers. You might feel despair as if no one could come and rescue you.
But then, what if everything was restored to you? A superhero came and saved your friends and family, he fought off the enemies who took your house, and once there was peace again, you had your job back.
Now, imagine that not only was everything restored, but everything was better than it was before. That is the joy of Easter.
We were dead in sin, and then Jesus restored us to everlasting life with the Father. Even when the disciples did not yet understand that Jesus had to rise from the dead, they saw the empty tomb and they believed.
Please do something special today with your family to celebrate: have a special meal, enjoy some time together outside, put down your phones and play a fun game together.
Today we celebrate the victory of life over death, of light over darkness.
