Wisdom Willow Bed and Breakfast – Proverbious – Day 44 – Proverbs 9:1-6

Welcome to the Wisdom Willow Bed and Breakfast. Wisdom Willow (WW) sits nestled in the valley at the base of reason and understanding. This beautiful Jewish home is well removed from the main pathways. Originally built mid-century, some-time, BC is now the destination of many travelers along the the path to righteousness. We have exceptional pottery and artwork, along with original craftsman furniture. Whoever is naive, let him turn in here, come eat some of my food and drink some of the wine I have mixed. Abandon your foolish ways so that you may live, and proceed in the way of understanding.

Are you a weary traveller who has been walking many long and sleepless nights? Have you been searching for direction, some sort of sign that can guide you in the way that you should go? Have you found yourself lost, fighting through the brush to try to find your way? If so, you may need to stop in for a stay at Wisdom Willow.

Inside you will find a house built on a solid foundation. You will find that everything is there, just waiting for you to choose to enter in. The table is prepared, the food is in the kitchen, the wine is ready to pour. The only missing ingredient is your presence. Proverbs 9:1-6

Wisdom has built her house;
she has carved out its seven pillars.
She has prepared her meat, she has mixed her wine;
she also has arranged her table.
She has sent out her female servants;
she calls out on the highest places of the city.
“Whoever is naive, let him turn in here,”
she says to those who lack understanding.
“Come, eat some of my food,
and drink some of the wine I have mixed.
Abandon your foolish ways so that you may live,
and proceed in the way of understanding.”

Don’t pass by. Don’t read the sign that you know was written specifically for you and just keep walking. If you see your name on the sign, go in. And all of us would see our name written on the billboard, personally inviting us to take our seat at the table. Actively asking us to take control of our life. To stop letting life happen to us and responding to it, and instead to learn the ways of wisdom and happen to our life.

The only way to happen to our life is to gain understanding, to abandon our foolish ways and proceed in the ways of understanding. We can’t allow ourselves to be pulled in and influenced by the things that have controlled and driven our lives in the past, all the things that have gotten us to this moment in time where we find ourselves the victim of a cruel world. We have to abandon all that, spend some time at the WWBB.

When we come out the door after our stay, we will know the direction we should go and we will know to walk in it, to stick closely to it and not stray from it. As we discussed yesterday, the path is narrow and full of snares and traps. We have to totally surrender to the leading of wisdom in our lives and follow even when the way seems unclear.

That takes faith. Having that faith will be a lot easier if we spend enough time getting to know wisdom. So, enter in. Take off your shoes, sit down at the table and take up residence at the Wisdom Willow Bed and Breakfast.
