Providence Journal College Basketball Podcast: Postseason hopes for Providence men, URI women, more
Manage episode 355920982 series 2342964
Welcome to the latest edition of the Providence Journal College Basketball Podcast. This is Bill Koch, sports writer for the Journal. I'm joined by the usual lineup of co-hosts -- WPRI and Fox Providence sports director Morey Hershgordon and Nick Coit, the ABC6 sports director and weekend co-host of Cordischi and Coit on WEEI Providence.
We're less than three weeks from Selection Sunday -- it's time to handicap some March Madness chances. Providence's men (2:55) should be locks for a seventh NCAA Tournament appearance under Ed Cooley. The University of Rhode Island women (14:35) kept their thin hopes of an at-large chance alive with a dramatic Sunday win at Saint Joseph's.
Brown's men (22:15) and Bryant's men (30:30) are both fighting for position in their upcoming conference tournaments. The Bears remain in the running for the fourth Ivy League spot while the Bulldogs are battling to play at least a quarterfinal matchup at the Chace Center.
URI's men (37:35) and Providence's women (44:40) will be long shots entering their respective tournaments. Bryant's women (47:35) could squeeze into the bottom of the America East field while Brown's women (48:30), despite significant improvement in 2022-23, will fall short of a tournament bid in a rugged Ivy League.
Thanks as always for listening.
