Sister Bliss from Faithless has had a career spanning more than two and a half decades.
How do you find the keys to longevity in the music industry?
How do you Reset after major band changes along the way?
How do you tackle issues faced by many women in the dance music scene?
We hear her story at the legendary island institute, Pikes, from growing up around the very first synthesisers and a musical father, to her love affair with House music which she fell in love with on the dance floors of New York city, when we met her in her hotel room right before her Back to Mine gig.
Ayalah Bentovim has witnessed a lot of change in the music industry and come full circle during her time in Faithless, with All Blessed their first entry into the world of streaming.
She recently remixed Insomnia to make it into a soundscape for sleep for a CBD brand - making that the longest track she has every written at 27 minutes.
Ayalah also shared her feelings on some of the challenges she has faced as a woman in the music industry along the way and says,
"The thing about dance music is it is about inclusivity, and about bringing people together, all shades of the rainbow all under one roof, dancing under one groove.
It is a place people come to leave all their problems behind.
It sounds like a cliche, but it is real. We have written about it in our music, ´this is my church, this is where i heal my hurt.`
People carry a lot of pain in their lives and in the early days, electronic dance music created a safe space for people. "
You can catch their latest album, All Blessed on the usual streaming platforms.
