Erin Mohr is a transgender stand-up comedian. She joins Oliver to candidly share her gender identity journey, which as she states is full of obstacles. Erin and Oliver start their conversation about how stand-up comedy provides a platform to touch on serious subjects such as transgender and HIV. Transitioned in 2016, Erin speaks about her frustration when a transgender person is reduced to their genitals, quite often especially in the dating scene. Erin and Oliver also talk about TikTok trolls, TERF (trans-exclusionary radical feminist), basketball, and their coming-out stories. Going from a white male to a white female, Erin says, also means losing privileges and Erin openly shares her experience of what it is like for her and how she adjusted to it. Erin and Oliver– a trans woman and a gay man–delve into the power dynamic within the LGBTQ community and how transgender people are often underrepresented in LGBTQ events.
