Should I Go Race? Or Just Train and Get Stronger? (Audio Fixed)

We had an athlete that suddenly got cold feet and wanted to stop racing in order to train and just get stronger. I highly disagree with this approach, as there is SO MUCH that you need to learn by actually showing up for the races.
Scott, our newest coach and Australian Olympian (I'm still hyped on typing that) had some great bullet points in our Whatsapp Coaches Chat, and I asked him to come on the pod and discuss. He hits some amazing points!

Reassuring them of things along these lines:
- if the work is done, the race is the time to reap the rewards
- regardless of the result they can look back and be proud of the preparation along the way
- with each race comes experience on how to execute the next one better, so all is not lost if the performance on the day isn’t what you’d hoped or aimed for
- literally just going through the process of race day (and the days leading up to it is beneficial)
- it’s not uncommon for the best performances to come on days you least expected
- racing when you aren’t at 100% can teach you to be a more efficient racer.
