What do you do when emotions run high? What’s the best course of action?

Today on Conflict Managed, Andi Tibbs Poiner tells us of her experiences and challenges of being a female professional in male dominated fields: as a Rappel Master in the Army in the 1990’s and currently as a mortician. Listen as Andi talks of her love of her time in the Army, the importance of being mission minded and prepared, and how she found her way into the funeral business.

Andi Tibbs Poiner is a licensed funeral director and embalmer with a small, family-owned corporation in West Tennessee. She believes in serving every family as if it were her own. In addition to working for the small corporation and embalming for local funeral homes, Andi is a retired First Sergeant – serving twenty active-duty years in the Army. She holds a Mortuary Science degree from John A. Gupton College in Nashville, Tennessee and a Psychology degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. She has served as alumni president of John A. Gupton College and is also a member of St. Jude Catholic Church, Martin, Tennessee.

Andi is initially from Wooster, Ohio and has lived in Anchorage, Alaska and Washington, D.C. She relocated to Martin, Tennessee after meeting her husband, Darryl Poiner. Andi has one son, Sean Tibbs, who lives in Tulsa, Oklahoma with his wife, Gia, and soon to be daughter (due in March 2023). Andi and Darryl reside with their spoiled rescues – two donkeys, a herd of goats, five chickens and one rooster, three labs, and three house cats.
