Combining elements of alternative metal, post hardcore, and progressive rock, San Antonio outliers Donella Drive cannot be categorized by a singular label. Forming over a decade ago as a 5-piece, weaving their way through the struggles as most bands do, the now 3-piece are heading out to the Viper Room in Los Angeles, CA to compete for a chance to head across the pond to play Wacken Open Air.
Having won their regional battle in San Antonio, they headed to Austin, TX for the state final and out the gate as the first act, they set the bar for the rest of the night. The elements of sound that came through the speakers gave the judges something to think about as the night went on.
Ryan and Aidan (lead vocals/guitar) get into where Donella Drive started, how they got to where they are at and what the plans are for the future to include new music dropping in the summer 2022. Aidan admits to being a PBS bro and having a soft spot for puffer fish mandala art. And Ryan tries to make a weird connection to Charles Manson.
