But where he really shined, was when our 2nd POTUS asked him to sit on the Supreme Court. He took the new job and ran with it, creating new procedures used to this day, and most importantly, elevating the court to an independent and co-equal branch of government. Something Presidents then and now, have a love-hate relationship with!
