Aujourd’hui, nous partons en voyage avec cette leçon qui s’appelle « Pépin de Caisse ». Un pépin est une graine, et une caisse est souvent une caisse en bois. En français courant, pourtant, le mot « pépin » veut aussi dire « un petit problème, une difficulté ». « Une caisse » est une voiture. Donc, aujourd'hui, France nous explique pourquoi elle n’a pas pu retrouver son amie : d’abord, sa voiture n’a pas démarré ; ensuite, elle a presque eu un accident, et enfin elle a été prise dans un embouteillage.

Today, we’re going on the road. This Advanced Podcast Unit is called Pépin de Caisse. Un pépin is a seed, and une caisse is a crate, often a wooden crate. In Everyday French though, un pépin is also a glitch, a trouble, a pickle, and une caisse is a car, wheels: ma caisse, my wheels. So today, France is explaining why she couldn’t meet her friend: first, her car didn’t start, then she almost got into an accident, and finally, she got caught in a traffic jam.
