Go to Title: For Pemberley Subtitle: A Pride & Prejudice Novella Author: Christie Capps Narrator: Stevie Zimmerman Format: Unabridged Length: 2 hrs and 19 mins Language: English Release date: 06-08-17 Publisher: Quiet Mountain Press Ratings: 4.5 of 5 out of 33 votes Genres: Romance, Historical Publisher's Summary: Trigger warning: Chapter One has a failed sexual assault with no description of the attack itself. However, the emotional impacts are felt throughout the story. Can love grow from adversity? An attempted assault leaves Miss Elizabeth Bennet seeking tender comfort from the man she had, at one time, abhorred. Mr. Fitzwilliam Darcy's gentle compassion fosters a budding affection as the couple grows to acknowledge each other's weaknesses and failings while recognizing their own. From Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice, we know Mr. Darcy as a man willing to make phenomenal changes for the woman he loves. Once proud and arrogant, he transforms into the gentleman women have admired for centuries. Through Elizabeth's eyes, we come to know him and see beyond the surface to the inner man - a man willing to give all he has for the woman he admires. As our heroine struggles with the aftermath of that life-changing event, we discover a strength of character we can admire and emulate. Not even the vile Mr. Wickham can keep Elizabeth Bennet from her happily-ever-after with the man of her dreams - Mr. Darcy. Members Reviews: Beautiful Dialogue This novella begins in the aftermath of a failed attack, with Elizabeth bent over the battered body of her attacker and bruises just forming on her skin. Darcy and Bingley are the first to witness the scene, and Elizabeth clutches at Darcy as her only refuge. His arms and muttered words are the only things holding her together. Darcy and Mr. Bennet quickly plan to take Elizabeth to safety as Meryton revolts at the news of the attack. While the subject matter may be disturbing, I thought the novella was beautifully written and handled the situation delicately. This version of Darcy, tender, caring, and articulate, was a pleasure. Our poor Lizzy is missing most of her archness due to the attack, but we still witness her strength of character. As a novella, there's not much time for an intricate plot, but the author makes up for it with beautiful dialogue. And Stevie Zimmerman handles the narration effortlessly, her low pitch for Darcy is absolute perfection. I'm looking forward to Christie Capps' next release. Hearbreaking and heartwarming. Would you consider the audio edition of For Pemberley to be better than the print version? Stevie Zimmerman's narration pictures the feelings of the characters perfectly. Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you? The scenes in Mrs. Carr's cottage. Any additional comments? This is a beautifully written story of survival and recovery. Elizabeth learns how to become strong again, and Darcy is a tower of strength. Mrs. Carr is a very interesting, original characters who guides Elizabeth on her path. The ending is heartwarming. For Pemberly review Good short story. Just needed more beginning information and less stating of Sandalwood and Citrus. very powerful any story written on such a subject is vee powerful . this was well written without the gore . thank you Elizabeth Assaulted? When I want to read about romance and be surrounded by beautiful language I turn to Jane Austin. There is no violence in Jane Austin. This book just strays too far from what I expected. I stopped listening after the first 10 minutes. Contact me for any questions:
