Sam begins today’s episode by reading an excerpt from his book, Everyday Awakening. In this excerpt, we explore the concept of success, and how important it is to do what you want to do authentically rather than just do what society deems to be successful. Next, Sam introduces podcast host of the Millionaire Woman Show and this week’s guest, Debra Kasowski. Inquiring about her B.S. in nursing, Sam asks why Debra chose to attain this degree. Debra launches into an explanation, discussing how she initially wanted to be a physician, then working in travel nursing, before finally choosing the path she is on now.
Debra explains how she moved from the profession of nursing into her current profession. She talks about how she internalized an event that happened while working at the hospital and how after that experience, she had a significant realization about what she wanted to do with her life. During her time in the medical field, Debra was recommended that she start coaching, and so she began developing this skill along with her skills in public speaking. She describes how she fell in love with coaching and speaking and eventually was able to do her first of her two TedX talks.
Debra talks about how she has been coaching for about ten years, and how she has noticed that one primary, universal problem keeps coming up with her clients: people often don’t celebrate the small successes nor appreciate where they’re at in life. She firmly believes we need to step into a mindset of gratitude. Sam and Debra then move into talking about the specific challenges that have occurred this past year. Addressing these challenges, Debra talks about how self care is of utmost importance.
Returning from the break, Sam asks Debra about her book Let’s Be Curious. She spends time answering some questions about her book, including why her book is titled Let’s Be Curious. Sam and Debra then have an enlightening conversation about how helpful curiosity is to navigating different aspects of life. After this discussion, Debra then describes how she reminds herself of her personal story, that everything has led her to the point she is today. Concluding the podcast, Debra lets us know where to find her online through her website debrakasowski.com
