- People call 9-1-1 when they are in desperate need of help. The range of these problems varies on a great scale from not so bad to life-threatening. The way we approach every fire or medical situation is the same way every time.Take a standard approach and work off of a template when tackling a problem. 1. Identify the problem 2. Identify the ideal situation 3. Formulate a strategy 4. Take action and make adjustments along the way
- In the fire service, trust is built-in, but only when it comes to tactical situations, not interpersonal ones. The same may be true for the team you're on at work or even your family. Focus on building trust and integrity by focusing on two elements: 1. Do what you say you'll do 2. Over deliver

The same goes for the people you work with who should all be focused on the mission. Here is a practical tool that I personally use to make sure I am maintaining integrity with myself. I call it the "Hot List" and it's a daily checklist of sorts. What's unique about this one is that it helps you build habits that you want to introduce into your life. Then, when those habits become built-in, you can remove that thing from your Hot List and add another. It's a practical way to ensure that you are A) accountable to yourself and B) always improving.
